One of many springtime events in Washington DC is the annual Art in Bloom event at The Lars Anderson House. One of many historic mansions and museums in the area, it has the unique opportunity to showcase local florists’ magical interpretations of various artworks, furniture, and architectural details, in the form of colorful floral (with a bit of fruit here and there), nature inspired fresh arrangements. My daughter and I were fortunate to get tickets and wander the mansion at our own pace, taking pictures and admiring all those typical mansion details – lots of gold detail, expansive collection of art and decor, and amazing architecture. The colorful arrangements are staged throughout each next to its inspiration, be it a piece of art work on the wall, antique china, a piano, an historic costume, or an impressive tile floor. Such a whimsical, creative way to bring to life objects of old, in a fresh, in the moment interpretation.
